Job summary

FP Inc. in Mississauga is seeking a Senior Analyst for Insurance Reporting to support process documentation, automation, and streamlined month-end close. The role is hybrid in Mississauga and the contract runs for 12 months.

You will lead journal entry preparation, assist with investment finance reporting, and perform ad hoc analysis. Strong Excel, Power Query, and proficiency with Windows-based software are required; IFRS 17 and Tableau/Power BI are a plus.

Qualifications

• Completion of CPA/CA/CMA or equivalent accounting designation, or 3+ years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong Excel skills and experience with data analysis and reconciliation.
• Experience or knowledge of financial reporting for investments.

Responsibilities

JOB DESCRIPTION

Location: Hybrid | Mississauga

Duration: 12 months

Our client, a leading financial institution in Mississauga, is looking for a Senior Analyst, Insurance Reporting to Process documentation, automation and streamlining (Manual Journal Entries and month-end close processes). The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with one of the Top 5 Banks in Canada.

Typical Day in role:

• Journal entry preparation (primary responsibility at the initial stage of the contract)
• Support Investment Finance reporting (manual journal entries, investment result analysis, support investment financial reporting
• Ad hoc reporting and investigation of financial results, variance analysis
• Preparation and analysis of monthly and quarterly journal entries, financial statements and reporting package requirements on a timely and accurate basis.
• Assist with external auditor requests and documentation as pertaining to interim and year-end audits.
• Active involvement with research and implementation of new / changes in reporting requirements. This can include revising or creating new journal entries, investigation of issues and other reporting changes.
• Drive process improvements through streamlining and enhance quality of work through documentation updates.

Must-Have Skills:

• Exceptional Excel skills
• Experience with Power Query
• Excellent working knowledge of all Windows-based software
• Experience or knowledge of financial reporting for Investments

Nice-To-Have Skills:

• IFRS 17 or Insurance Financial Reporting experience
• Power BI or experience building dashboards to support analytics/analysis of financial results
• Experience building reports in Tableau
• 3 years or more of financial services industry experience in progressive finance roles
• Experience working with large data sets and automating manual processes
• Understanding of Insurance products and insurance accounting.
• Knowledge of Investment Accounting and investment products.
• Process automation knowledge and experience, particularly with respect to month-end close processes and manual journal entries.
• Experience with Bank financial systems and analytical tools.

Education:

• Completion of a recognized professional accounting designation (CPA: CA, CGA, CMA) or equivalent experience (3 years)
