About the team

The Corporate Communications team leads Intact Financial Corporation’s internal and external communications in support of IFC’s business objectives and strategic roadmap. This includes:

  • Supporting and amplifying the common elements that bring us together, define our unique culture and drive outperformance.
  • Enhancing employee engagement across IFC – emphasizing what makes us a winning team.
  • Protecting and promoting the IFC brand and reputation globally.
  • Elevating IFC’s role in helping to build resilient communities where we do business.
  • Amplifying IFC’s knowledge, expertise and thought leadership in our key markets.

The successful candidate will report to the Director, External Communications.

Job Summary:Intact is seeking a dynamic, creative and experienced Senior Advisor, Social Media, to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in social media strategy, content creation, and community management. This role involves leading our social media initiatives, optimizing our online presence, and driving engagement across all platforms.

The Senior advisor, Social Media, is responsible for:

Social media strategy, Content development & management

  • Developing and implementing comprehensive social media strategies to enhance Intact Financial Corporation’s (IFC) brand awareness, engagement, and growth.
  • Collaborate with content owners to develop tailored social media content that aligns with their campaigns, communications, and business objectives.
  • Create, curate, and oversee engaging, high-quality multimedia content (images, video, written, and audio) across various social media platforms.
  • Collaborate with the marketing, communications, diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) teams and social media content creators from other teams to ensure cohesive messaging and branding across all channels.
  • Maintain a cross-functional social media editorial calendar to align content and campaigns with other teams, ensuring timely execution.
  • Provide guidance on and maintain social media governance across the organization.
  • Cultivate relationships across the organization to identify potential content to share externally.
  • Work with external agency on integrated social media campaigns.

Community management & Engagement

  • Engage with our online community, responding to comments, messages, and mentions promptly and professionally.
  • Engage with brand advocates and partners to foster brand loyalty.
  • Follow, and enhance as needed, crisis management protocols for social media and manage any issues that arise in a timely and effective manner.
  • Partner with the customer service and experience teams across the business to address specific customer issues, ensuring we continuously monitor situations, adapt our responses appropriately, and react promptly in alignment with our core values.

Monitoring, Reporting and Trends

  • Monitor social media channels for industry trends, competitor activities, and audience insights to inform content strategy.
  • Analyze key metrics and prepare comprehensive reports to measure the impact of social media activities, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Build a strong understanding of social audiences and stay up-to-date with the latest social media best practices, trends, tools, and technologies.

  • Strategic thinker and storyteller, with great judgment, able to share the Intact story in a compelling and engaging way to increase awareness and enhance Intact’s reputation with all our audiences (eg. customers, employees, shareholders, media and government).
  • Drives a social media program that supports business objectives and demonstrates meaningful progress in key areas.
  • Builds strong relationships with internal business partners and colleagues, known for expertise and capability to leverage social media to enhance brand presence and engagement.
  • Lives the Intact Values, sets high standards, is open and honest, and takes accountability.

Qualifications:

  • Bilingual (English/French) is a strong asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in social media management in a corporate environment, with a proven track record of developing and executing successful strategies, content creation, distribution, reporting, employee advocacy tools, and community management using a social media management platform.
  • Great judgement, able to evaluate brand safety, sensitive issues, to translate business priorities into engaging, platform-appropriate content that resonates with target audience.
  • In-depth knowledge of social platforms including LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and emerging channels, and proven experience managing relationships with each platform.
  • Proficiency in social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout Social) and analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, Facebook Insights), as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent storytelling, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling content tailored to different audiences.
  • Creative and innovative mindset, skilled at experimenting with new content formats, with a keen eye for detail and design.
  • Strong understanding of visual storytelling with the ability to collaborate effectively with designers, video/content creators to produce high-quality multimedia assets aligned to best practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and generate actionable insights and strategic decisions.
  • Positive attitude, detail-oriented, and highly organized.
  • Proficiency with design, photo and video editing tools and digital media formats is a strong asset.
  • Experience with social media advertising and budget management is an asset.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
  • For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
