The Role

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Social Media Specialist to focus on Kobo’s CEO thought leadership and Employer Branding programs. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Social Media, this role will develop and execute social media strategies for the North American market. The ideal candidate will be a skilled communicator, creative storyteller, and proactive community builder with a strong understanding of social media platforms and experience with thought leadership programs at large.

Key Responsibilities
  • CEO Thought Leadership Program: Develop and implement social media strategies in the US and Canada, including content creation, scheduling, community management, and performance monitoring to support the CEO’s online presence and Kobo's brand.
  • Content Curation: Identify relevant industry news and trends, and proactively engage in online conversations to recommend participation opportunities for the brand.
  • Event Content Activation: Coordinate with the PR team/CEO for events, attend when necessary, and develop social media content from these events.
  • Employer Branding: Collaborate with Talent Acquisition to develop campaigns showcasing Kobo’s culture, values, and benefits, highlighting employee stories and company achievements.
  • Internal Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as the primary contact for ERGs, Employee Experience, CSR, and Talent Acquisition teams. Maintain a social media calendar for internal initiatives and employer branding.
  • Content Calendar Management: Maintain and update a content calendar to ensure a steady flow of engaging content across platforms.
  • Content Scheduling & Publishing: Use social media management tools to schedule and publish content.
  • Performance Tracking: Analyze social media metrics and provide regular KPI reports.
  • Industry Trends: Stay updated on social media trends, especially related to LinkedIn and Threads, and CEO/Executive branding.
  • Agency Coordination: Serve as the main contact for external agencies, facilitating communication and project delivery.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years in social media management, preferably with experience in executive or employer branding.
  • Proven success in campaigns on IG, FB, LI, TikTok, YouTube, Threads.
  • Experience with agency coordination, social media reporting, and content calendar management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, English, or related field.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of social media analytics.
  • Experience working with C-level executives is a plus.
  • Certifications in social media marketing are preferred.
  • Interest in the bookish community and reading trends is a plus.
  • Familiarity with tools like Sprout Social and Hootsuite.
  • Located in the Toronto GTA area preferred.

  • Strong written and verbal skills, capable of presenting complex concepts engagingly.
  • Confidence in public speaking and presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Excellent English skills, both verbal and written.
