Your Opportunity:

The Indigenous Wellness Core (IWC) collaborates across Alberta Health Services and with external partners to advance Indigenous health and health equity. The IWC aims to improve Indigenous health outcomes in Alberta through community empowerment, upstream efforts, and transforming health service delivery to address racism and social determinants of health. Reporting to the Executive Director, IWC Operations, the Clinical Informatics Lead (CIL) oversees Connect Care optimization for the IWC, manages upgrades, clinical design, and future planning. The CIL ensures adherence to configuration standards, promotes clinical content, and integrates culturally informed, trauma-sensitive, two-eyed seeing approaches to clinical informatics. Experience in clinical systems implementation and workflow transformation is preferred. This role is part of Primary Care Alberta. Responsibilities:

  • Lead escalation point for Connect Care system issues, gather requirements, and develop solutions with stakeholders.
  • Ensure clinical adoption, facilitate issue resolution, and support development and optimization of clinical information systems across Indigenous programs.
  • Collaborate with clinical informatics teams and operational portfolios to support high-quality, safe, and seamless clinical services.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including clinical leadership and staff, to support system excellence aligned with Indigenous health commitments.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree in a health-related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years’ healthcare experience in large, complex organizations.
  • 3-5 years’ experience working with Indigenous Peoples in healthcare.
  • At least 2 years’ experience with clinical information systems.
  • Knowledge of AHS systems like Connect Care, Netcare, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Experience in stakeholder relationship building, negotiation, conflict resolution, and quality improvement techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Regulation as a health professional.
  • Experience in health informatics and direct patient care.
  • Knowledge of EPIC ambulatory software.
  • Experience in Indigenous health settings and cultural awareness.
