Job summary

LeverageTek Staffing Solutions seeks a Senior Accountant for a 6-month contract with an Ottawa-based client. The role is remote, supporting multiple entities and leading the month-end close process.

You will perform GL reconciliations, fixed asset reviews, and journal entries, ensuring accurate financial statements. CPA designation is a plus, but not required; strong independence in a dynamic environment is essential.

LeverageTek is actively seeking a Senior Accountant for a 6-month contract with its Ottawa-based customer.

Work Location

This is a remote position.

Key Tasks

• Perform general ledger reconciliations, including fixed assets, accrued liabilities, and intercompany accounts.
• Perform general accounting cleanup, account reconciliations (many never done before), month-end close, and fixing of legacy issues.
• Identify and resolve data discrepancies and ensure financial statement accuracy.
• Clean and organize supporting financial records and documentation.
• Support the month-end close process and preparation of journal entries.
• Analyze and correct accounting entries, with full understanding of their impact on financial statements.
• Support SSC leadership with reporting and ad hoc financial tasks.
• Roll up sleeves for detailed investigative work, including reconstructing fixed asset listings from up to 10 years of data and populating Excel.
• Support entity merges, AP, procurement, and the Oracle transition as needed.

Key Qualifications

• Experience supporting complex general ledger reconciliations, with a focus on fixed assets and other key balance sheet accounts.
• Strong foundation in accounting principles and experience working in a dynamic, fast-changing environment supporting multiple entities.
• Experience supporting the month-end close process and preparation of journal entries.

Qualifications

• Strong grasp of how balance sheet adjustments affect financial statements.
• Experience with Oracle or other ERP systems is an asset.
• CPA designation is a plus, but not required.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently in an ambiguous environment.
• Confident working with senior people.

Compensation

Hourly Rate Negotiable. This is an existing position vacancy.
