Job summary

The W̱SÁNEĆ School Board is hiring a SENĆOŦEN Education Assistant (Internal) to support students across levels 1–3 with social, emotional, physical, and academic needs. The role is unionized under BCGEU and is an internal posting with interviews for shortlisted candidates.

Under supervision, you will contribute to planning, implementing, and evaluating individualized education plans, and work closely with teachers and specialists to support SENĆOŦEN language learning and inclusive education.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 dogwood certificate or GED (EA Level 1).
• Grade 12 + TA certificate or diploma in a related area and one year related experience (EA Level 2).
• Grade 12 dogwood certificate + special needs educator certification (EA Level 3).
• SENĆOŦEN EA: Completed SENĆOŦEN Language Authority Assessment.
• Valid First Aid, CPR and Criminal Record Check.
• Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License may be required for Levels 1 & 2.
• First Aid certification may be required.

Responsibilities

• Support planning, implementation, and evaluation of student needs.
• Assist students in classroom or individual settings within a team.
• Deliver targeted educational and behavioral support for students with disabilities.
• Assist with implementing individualized education programs.
• Work with teachers and support staff to address student needs.
