Job summary

Paladin Security is seeking a Security Team Lead for Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. The role requires supervising security guards, providing leadership and training, and ensuring compliant, proactive security services within a hospital setting.

Responsibilities include incident management, reporting, and collaboration with healthcare teams, law enforcement and emergency services. Must be able to work 12-hour shifts across multiple rotations.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in a leadership role within healthcare security
• Immunization records for MMR, varicella, Covid-19, TB skin test
• Clean-shaven for N95 mask fit testing
• Strong leadership, communication and conflict resolution skills
• Experience with report writing, investigations and incident management

Responsibilities

• Supervise security guards across all facility areas
• Provide leadership, scheduling, coaching and training to site staff
• Oversee daily operations: standing orders, shift activities, attendance, audits and mandatory training
• Maintain security presence and ensure safety of staff, patients and visitors
• Conduct incident investigations and communicate with Head Office and Client Service Manager
• Collaborate with healthcare teams, local law enforcement and emergency services
• Operate 12-hour shifts and participate in 24/7 coverage as required

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for supervising the activities and job performance of security guards assigned to all areas belonging to their facility.
• Provide leadership, supervision, scheduling, coaching, and training to site staff while ensuring compliance with Paladin Security and site-specific policies.
• Oversee daily operations, including standing orders, shift activities, attendance management, security audits, and mandatory training requirements.
• Motivate, commend, and discipline staff as required, ensuring proper documentation and communication with Head Office and the Client Service Manager.
• Deliver proactive and reactive security services, including patrols, incident response, coded emergency response, and report writing within the Mental Health Ward and Emergency Department.
• Monitor, document, investigate, and elevate security incidents, complaints, and safety concerns as needed.
• Maintain a visible security presence, ensure the safety of staff, patients, and visitors, and support patient watch guards.
• Utilize verbal de-escalation techniques and provide professional customer service when working with vulnerable or distressed populations.
• Assist with security planning for high-risk patients and collaborate closely with healthcare teams, local law enforcement, and emergency services.
• Perform duties requiring physical fitness, including standing and walking for extended periods during 12-hour shifts.

WHAT YOU BRING

• 2 previous years of experience in a leadership role within healthcare security
• 2 previous years of experience in healthcare security
• Immunization records for mumps, measles, rubella, varicella, Covid-19, & two-step TB skin test
• Must be able to be clean-shaven for N95 mask fit testing
• Strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills
• Ability to handle high-pressure situations in a professional manner
• Strong understanding of report writing, investigations, and incident management
• A degree in police foundations, protection security and investigations, criminology, or border services will be an asset
• Legally authorized to work in Canada
• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
• Applicants who do not possess these certifications can opt into Paladin's Use of Force (UOF)/Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position

Please be aware: The UOF/MOAB certification is not paid, as it is a pre-employment requisite; however, Paladin will cover all the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability.
