Job summary

Paladin Security is seeking a Casual Security Guard to cover multiple sites in the Niagara region, including hospitals. You will work varied shifts, perform patient watch, patrol premises, and manage access points while upholding safety protocols.

Minimum qualifications include an Ontario Security License, First Aid/CPR Level C, immunization records, and English fluency. Multiple benefits and a daily pay option are available.

Qualifications

• First Aid & CPR Level C certification required.

• English fluency (spoken and written) a must.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous patient observation and ensure a safe environment across multiple Niagara region sites.
• Conduct regular patrols of hospital grounds including parking areas and entrances.
• Monitor CCTV and alarm systems, reporting suspicious activity immediately.
• Control access to restricted areas and verify valid credentials.
• Respond quickly to emergencies such as medical incidents or fire alarms.
• Greet and assist visitors, patients and staff with professionalism.
• Document daily activities and incidents accurately in reports.
• Enforce hospital policies and procedures at all times.

Position: Casual Security Guard

Site: Various Sites in Niagara Region (Niagara Falls, Welland, Thorold, St. Catharines, Fort Erie, etc.)

Hours: Various Hours (Continental, Rotating shifts)

Payrate: $18.35 (Varies from site to site)

External Closing Date: October 9th, 2026

Position Description: As a casual guard, you will be required to work across multiple sites within the Niagara region, including healthcare sites. Minimum requirement per month is 4 shifts.

Key responsibilities:

• Patient Watch and Observation: Provide continuous observation of patients identified as requiring supervision due to medical, behavioral, or safety concerns. Maintain a safe environment, monitor patient activity, and promptly report any changes in behavior or condition to hospital staff.
• Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits
• Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
• Access Control: Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
• Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats.
• Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff.
• Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
• Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately.
• Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed.

Prerequisites:

• Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
• Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor)
• Covid Vaccine two doses
• Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella and two step TB skin test
• Valid G class Driver License with last 3 years of Clean Abstract as asset
• English (oral and written) fluency is a must
• Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
• Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
• Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
