Job summary

Paladin Security is seeking a full-time Security Guard at Hogarth Riverview Manor to patrol grounds, monitor surveillance, and manage entry access. You will respond to emergencies, provide customer service, and support hospital staff in a fast-paced environment.

Prerequisites include Ontario security license, First Aid & CPR Level C, immunization records, and a valid driver license. English fluency is required; MOAB/UOF training may be offered pre/onboarding with costs covered by Paladin.

Qualifications

• Valid Security License for Ontario province.
• First Aid & CPR Level C certification.
• Immunization records and driving license required.

Responsibilities

• Patrol grounds including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances and exits to ensure safety.
• Operate security cameras and alarm systems, report suspicious activity.
• Operate switchboard duties including call handling, dispatching and CCTV monitoring.
• Monitor and control entry points; ensure only authorized access.
• Respond quickly to emergencies and assist hospital staff during crises.
• Provide Use of Force/Restraint under Mental Health Act as required.
• Greet and assist visitors, patients and staff; give directions and enforce hospital policies.
• De-escalate conflicts and document incidents and concerns.

Averaging Agreement: Overtime is Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

Payrate: | $ 19.80 / hour

Key responsibilities:

• Patrol Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.
• Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
• You will be required to operate the Switchboard duties including call handling, dispatching, monitoring of building alarm systems and CCTV.
• Access Control: Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
• Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
• Provide Use of Force/Restraint as required and directed under the Mental Health Act
• Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
• Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
• Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
• Collaboration with Hospital Staff: Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
• Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards

Prerequisites:

• Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
• Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor)
• Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella and two step TB skin test
• Valid G class Driver License
• English (oral and written) fluency is a must
• Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
• Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
• Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
• Authorized to legally work in Canada
