Job summary

Spotter Security is seeking an Experienced Security Service Technician for a field-based role across the GTA. You will install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair IP video, access control, and alarm systems, with extensive travel and occasional overtime.

You will diagnose faults, read blueprints, use diagnostic equipment, and document service reports. A driver’s license, background check, and working-at-heights training are required.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years installing and/or servicing cabling, cameras, alarms, access control systems, or related technologies.
• Experience with Avigilon, Milestone, S2, Genetec, Axis, ExacQ, DSC, Alarm.com, Brivo, Eagle Eye, OpenEye, Kantech.
• Strong IP networking and IT knowledge, including troubleshooting and software updates.
• Valid Ontario driver’s license (G‑Class), clean driving abstract, clear criminal background check, eligible to work in Canada, Ministry‑approved Working at Heights certification, Boom/Scissor lift and/or Bucket Truck safety training.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on work indoors and outdoors in various environments.
• Complete scheduled maintenance visits with thorough documentation.

• Ensure all work meets quality standards and safety requirements.
• Interact professionally with customers and ensure complete satisfaction.
• Submit accurate Work Orders and detailed Post-Service Reports with images and descriptions.
• Communicate effectively with the Service and Technology Manager.
• Escalate complex technical issues when required.

About the Role

Spotter Security is looking for an Experienced Security Service Technician who thrives on solving problems, learning quickly, and working independently. This is a hands‑on, field‑based position involving regular travel across the GTA, with occasional work beyond the region as needed.

You’ll be responsible for providing exceptional service to our customers by installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of electronic security systems - both hardware and software. The ideal candidate has strong technical capabilities, excellent people skills, and the ability to operate with minimal supervision.

Location: Greater Toronto Area (GTA)

Position Type: Full‑Time (35-44 hrs/week)

Key Responsibilities

Service & Technical Work

• Install, maintain, and repair electronic security equipment (IP video, access control, alarm systems, integrations, etc.).
• Inspect and test equipment and assemblies to diagnose, locate, and resolve faults.
• Perform hands‑on work indoors and outdoors in a variety of environments.
• Complete scheduled maintenance visits with thorough documentation.

Customer Service & Reporting

• Interact professionally with customers and ensure complete satisfaction.

• Communicate effectively with the Service and Technology Manager.
• Escalate complex technical issues where required.

Work Schedule & Expectations

• Monday–Friday, 35–44 hours per week.
• Occasional overtime or weekend shifts.
• Participate in after‑hours service rotation.
• Extensive local travel; may work at multiple sites within a single day.

Qualifications

Required Experience

• 3–5+ years installing and/or servicing cabling, cameras, alarms, access control systems, or related technologies.
• Experience with at least some of the following manufacturers: Avigilon, Milestone, S2, Genetec, Axis, ExacQ, DSC, Alarm.com, Brivo, Eagle Eye, OpenEye, Kantech.

Technical Skills

• Strong understanding of IP video systems, access control, alarm systems, and integrations.
• Strong networking and IT knowledge, including troubleshooting and software updates.
• Ability to independently diagnose, resolve, and elevate complex issues.

Required Certifications & Documentation

• Valid full G‑Class Ontario driver’s license.
• Clean driving abstract.
• Clear criminal background check.
• Eligible to work legally in Canada.
• Ministry‑approved Working at Heights certification.
• Boom/Scissor lift and/or Bucket Truck safety training.
