Job summary

Commissionaires Victoria, the Islands & Yukon is seeking security professionals to support airports, schools, government facilities and commercial sites across Vancouver Island and the Yukon. You will perform access control, patrols, and emergency response while upholding high safety standards.

Starting wage ranges from $20.00 to $21.41 per hour, with opportunities for advancement and paid training. A government security clearance or ability to obtain one is required, along with BC security

Qualifications

• Fluent in English—written, verbal and reading skills.
• Willing to obtain BC security worker's license.
• Must complete online Commissionaire Security Officer Course.
• Government of Canada secret (level II) security clearance or ability to obtain one.
• Comfortable using computers.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service to clients and the public.
• Provide access control and security foot/mobile patrols.
• Respond to emergencies and conflicts; carry out evacuation procedures.
• Follow safety regulations and site procedures.
• Communicate issues to the site supervisor.
• Maintain high attention to incident report writing.

Shifts: Various days, evenings, and overnight shifts

Reports to: Site Supervisor

Starting Wage: $20.00/hr - $21.41/hr

Job Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service to clients and the general public.
• Provide access control and security foot/mobile patrols as needed.
• Proactively respond to and resolve emergency situations and conflicts.
• Complete evacuation and emergency response procedures when necessary.
• Using mobile phones and basic computer programs.
• Communicate problems or concerns to the site supervisor.
• Possess excellent multi-tasking, problem-solving, prioritizing and organizational abilities.
• Know occupational health and safety regulations – training provided.
• Perform all duties with high safety standards.

Qualifications and Experience

• Posses a Governmentof Canada secret (level II) security clearance or have the ability to obtain one.
• Ability to remain alert while on duty.
• Ability to work in a range of weather conditions throughout shift.
• Must complete theonline Commissionaire Security Officer Course
• Be willing to obtain a BC security worker's license.
• Be comfortable using computers.
• Fluent in the English language - written, verbal and reading skills.
• Have a positive attitude with a professional demeanour.
• Have excellent attention to complete incident report writing.
• Have excellent problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in varying situations.
