Job summary

Paladin Security is hiring a Full-Time Security Guard for Markham Stouffville Hospital. You will patrol, monitor CCTV and entry points, respond to emergencies, and assist staff to maintain a safe environment.

Ideal candidates have Ontario security licensing, clear immunization records, and strong communication in English. Training for UOF/MOAB is offered, with a six-month commitment on training costs.

Qualifications

• Valid Security License for the province of Ontario.
• Immunization records as listed.
• English fluency (oral and written).
• 1 year security or law enforcement experience is an asset.
• Certification in Use of Force (UOF) and MOAB; training option available.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises to ensure safety.
• Operate cameras and alarm systems and report suspicious activity.
• Monitor entry points and restrict access to authorized individuals.
• Respond to emergencies and assist staff during crises.
• Greet and assist visitors and staff, provide directions.
• De-escalate tense situations and document incidents.
• Document daily activities and incidents accurately.
• Collaborate with staff and local law enforcement for coordinated security.
• Ensure adherence to hospital policies and patient protocols.
• Address violations in line with safety standards.

Security Guard Full Time Markham Stouffville Hospital

Site Overview: Markham Stouffville Hospital is a busy community hospital providing acute care, emergency, and specialized healthcare services. Security Guards play a key role in maintaining a safe environment for patients, visitors, staff, and hospital assets while delivering exceptional customer service and responding to emergencies.

Position: Full-Time Security Guard

Payrate: $19.38 - $21.80/hr "based on levelling system"

Averaging Agreement: Overtime is (AA) after 88 hours

Key responsibilities:

• Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.
• Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
• Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
• Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
• Greeting and assisting visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
• De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
• Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
• Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
• Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed.
• Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards

Prerequisites:

• Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
• Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella , Covid 19 two doses, and two step TB skin test
• English (oral and written) fluency is a must
• One year experience in security, or law enforcement is an asset
• Able to be clean-shave for N95 mask fit testing
• Legally authorized to work in Canada
• Degree in Police Foundations, Protection Security and Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services will be an asset
• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
• Applicants who do not possess these certifications can opt into Paladin's Use of Force (UOF)/Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position

Please be aware: The UOF/MOAB certification is not paid as it is a pre-employment requisite; however, Paladin will cover all the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability

Certification Requirements (All)

First Aid and CPR - Level C Certification
A Valid Ontario Security Guard Licence
Minimum of 1 year security experience
