Job summary

Paladin Security is hiring a Security Guard for North York General Hospital in Toronto (Finch site). The role covers rounds, access control, incident response, and visitor assistance to maintain a safe environment.

Required: Ontario Security License, English fluency, and immunization records. Training (UOF/MOAB) is available; a degree is a plus and Canadian work eligibility is a must.

Qualifications

• Ontario Security License required.
• Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Covid vaccines (two doses) and TB test.
• English (oral and written) fluency is mandatory.
• One year security or law enforcement experience is preferred.
• Must be able to perform N95 mask fit testing.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada.
• Post-secondary degree in Police Foundations, Protection Security & Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services is an asset.
• Certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and MOAB are preferred; Paladin offers training with a six‑month commitment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct rounds across hospital premises including parking areas, corridors, patient rooms, entrances and exits.
• Operate CCTV and alarm systems; report suspicious activity immediately.
• Monitor entry points to ensure only authorized individuals access restricted zones.
• Respond quickly to emergencies and assist staff during crises and evacuations.
• Greet and assist visitors, patients, and staff; provide directions.
• De‑escalate conflicts and maintain professional interactions.
• Document daily activities, incidents, and security concerns in reports.
• Coordinate with hospital staff and local law enforcement for safety.
• Enforce hospital policies including visitor and patient protocols.
• Address violations to uphold safety standards.

Overtime: Overtime is Averaging Agreement after 88 hours

Pay Rate: $19.10/hr.

Key responsibilities:

• Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.
• Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
• Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
• Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
• Greeting and assisting visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
• De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
• Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
• Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
• Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed.
• Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards

Prerequisites:

• Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
• Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella , Covid Vaccine two doses, and two step TB skin test
• English (oral and written) fluency is a must
• One year experience in security, or law enforcement is an asset
• Able to be clean-shave for N95 mask fit testing
• Legally authorized to work in Canada
• Degree in Police Foundations, Protection Security and Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services will be an asset
• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
• Applicants who do not possess these certifications can opt into Paladin's Use of Force (UOF)/Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position

Please be aware: The UOF/MOAB certification is not paid as it is a pre-employment requisite; however, Paladin will cover all the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
