Job summary

YVR is seeking a Security Compliance Officer to administer security plans and ensure understanding of rules and regulations among stakeholders including project teams, construction leads, PSLP and Transport Canada.

The role requires five years in an airport setting, strong CASR/CAR knowledge, analytical and communication skills, and a valid driver’s license. Proficiency with MS 365 and advanced Excel is expected.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five years in an airport environment or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of CASRs and CARs.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Experience coordinating with multiple internal and external stakeholder groups.
  • Proficiency with MS 365 applications, with advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with stakeholders to review work and provide consultation at the PSL.
  • Write, issue and administer security plans to support projects.
  • Keep Operations informed of upcoming security plans.
  • Maintain and administer the AVSEC PSL Audit.
  • Audit PSLP biannually and serve as primary contact for plan changes.

Job description

Aviation Security Department is an integral part of the organization as we operate under a regulatory environment to ensure the safety and security of passengers as they move through our airport.

Position overview

As Security Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for administering security plans, as well as ensuring stakeholders - such as the project management team, construction leads, Primary Security Line Partners (PSLP) and Transport Canada, among others - understand the rules and regulations.

Key responsibilities include
  • Meeting with stakeholders to review work, as well as provide consultation and clarification when work occurs at the Primary Security Line (PSL)
  • Writing, issuing and administering security plans to support projects and other initiatives
  • Keeping Operations team informed of upcoming security plans
  • Maintaining and administering the Aviation Security (AVSEC) PSL Audit
  • Auditing PSLP biannually and acting as primary contact for changes to plan
  • Acting as regulatory specialist with a solid understanding of Canadian Aviation Security Regulations (CASRs) and Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs)
Key qualifications include:
  • At least five years' relevant experience in an airport environment, supplemented by a post-secondary certificate or diploma in business, planning, operations or a related field (bachelor's degree preferred); or an equivalent combination of training and experience that includes relevant experience in the aviation industry
  • Excellent knowledge of airport regulations and legislation, including detailed knowledge of CASRs
  • Advanced analytical, critical thinking and decision-making skills with the ability to form sound judgment in a complex, technical environment, sometimes with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication (both verbal and written), interpersonal, negotiation and organization skills
  • Proven experience working with multiple levels of internal and external stakeholder groups
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with a good driving record
  • Proficiency with MS 365 applications, with advanced Excel skills
