Job summary

YVR is seeking a Program Coordinator, Risk and Resilience to support the airport community in developing, maintaining, and enhancing operational and business continuity plans. You will assess and mitigate risks, strengthen readiness, and support airside contracts and emergency preparedness activities.

Strong analytical, planning, and communication skills are required. Three years in an operational environment and knowledge of aviation regulations are essential, with proficiency in Microsoft 365.

Qualifications

  • At least three years' experience in an operational environment, preferably in technical, risk, emergency or airport environment.
  • Knowledge of aviation operations, airside environments, and Canadian aviation regulations (CARs) and standards.
  • Strong planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with experience in risk assessment and operational, contingency, and incident response planning.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex technical information into clear procedures and presentations.
  • Proven ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a complex, fast-paced operational environment.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with experience collaborating across multiple internal teams and external partners.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and related workplace technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve operational, contingency, and recovery plans to strengthen business continuity, resilience, and operational readiness.
  • Manage the FOD Management Plan and Aircraft Recovery Plan and review operational procedures to ensure compliance, awareness, effective contingencies, and continuous improvement.
  • Plan and lead regular tabletop exercises, driving corrective actions and continuous improvements to strengthen operational readiness.
  • Support airside risk management by identifying, assessing, and mitigating operational risks, including maintaining the Airside Operations risk register and participating in risk assessments.
  • Represent the team in stakeholder initiatives, emergency preparedness activities, contract support, and operational response during irregular events.

Position overview

Are you a critical thinker who thrives on variety and is passionate about continuous improvement? We have an exciting Term, full-time (to July 2027) opportunity for a Program Coordinator, Risk and Resilience to join a team of dynamic self-starters dedicated to keeping YVR safe, efficient, and prepared for whatever comes next. In this role, you will collaborate across the airport community to develop, maintain, and enhance operational and business continuity plans, assess and mitigate risks, and strengthen operational readiness. You will play a key role in ensuring the broader airside team is trained, informed, and equipped to successfully execute these plans. The position also supports key airside contracts, provides operational coverage as needed, and contributes to critical airport operations, including winter response activities.

Key Responsibilities

Key Qualifications
  • At least three years’ experience in an operational environment, preferably in technical, risk, emergency or airport environment, supplemented by a post-secondary education in Airport Operations, Operations Management, Emergency Planning or related discipline; or equivalent combination of training and airport experience
  • Knowledge of aviation operations, airside environments, and Canadian aviation regulations (CARs) and standards.
  • Strong planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with experience in risk assessment and operational, contingency, and incident response planning.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex technical information into clear procedures and presentations.
  • Proven ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a complex, fast-paced operational environment.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with experience collaborating across multiple internal teams and external partners.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and related workplace technologies.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license and ability to obtain and maintain a D/A AVOP.
