Job summary

Paladin Security is seeking a Full-Time Patrol Guard for Scarborough Birchmount Hospital in Toronto. The role covers continental night shifts (1900-0700) with AA overtime after 88 hours, to maintain safety across hospital premises and parking areas.

Qualified candidates hold an Ontario security license, First Aid & CPR Level C, and are fluent in English. Immunizations and MOAB/UOF certifications are required. Apply to join a dedicated security team at SHN via Paladin.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances and exits.
• Operate security cameras and alarm systems and report suspicious activity promptly.
• Monitor entry points and ensure only authorized access to restricted areas.
• Respond quickly to emergencies and assist staff during crises.
• Greet and assist visitors, patients and staff.
• De-escalate tense situations and maintain calm, professional interactions.
• Document daily activities, incidents or accidents accurately.
• Collaborate with hospital staff and local law enforcement for coordinated security.
• Ensure adherence to hospital policies and visitor/patient protocols.

Position: Full Time Patrol Guard

Site: Scarborough Birchmount Hospital | 3030 Birchmount Road in Toronto (Scarborough)

Overtime Method : Overtime is Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

Hours: Continental Nights (1900-0700)

Payrate: $18.73/hour

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.
• Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities
• Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
• Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises
• Greeting and assisting visitors, patients, and hospital staff
• De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally
• Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately
• Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved
• Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed

Prerequisites

• Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
• Valid First Aid & CPR Level C from a WSIB approved provider
• Must be willing to complete N95 Mask fit testing during the training
• English (oral and written) fluency is a must
• Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred
• Legally authorized to work in Canada
• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
