Job summary

American Iron & Metal (AIM) is seeking a qualified Scale Operator to support daily operations at our Collingwood yard. You will weigh outgoing and incoming vehicles, record data, and assist the team with scale duties.

This on-site role requires general office experience, basic math skills, and comfort using Microsoft Office; the job involves standing for long periods and working in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

  • General office experience is required.
  • Cashier experience is a plus.
  • Reading, writing and basic math skills are required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and data entry.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Work independently and in a team.
  • Indoor/outdoor work in all weather.
  • Safety oriented.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience in transportation, trucking or in an industrial yard environment is a plus.
  • Experience with radio communication is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting customers and having good customer service skills.
  • Operating a computer to record the weights of incoming and outgoing vehicles.
  • Logging information accurately into a centralized database.
  • Calculating costs for drivers based on vehicle weight.
  • Working in our offices and yard scales.
  • Supporting the team on the scale as an attendant, weighing trucks and updating reports on the computer.
  • Sorting and processing metal scrap pieces.

Job Description

We are seeking a qualified, responsible, and reliable individual to join our company as a Scale Operator.The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and ensuring the smooth and safe day to day scale operator activities in our office and at our scales in our yard.

What you're responsible for:

  • Greeting customers and having good customer service skills

Qualifications

  • Past CASHIERexperience is plus!

  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Ability to work inside & outside in all-weather conditions.
