Job Brief

As a Sales Representative & Account Manager in our Group Benefits and Retirement division, you will be a key contributor to our client experience and growth strategy. Your role will focus on servicing existing clients, identifying opportunities for plan enhancements, and contributing to business development efforts through upselling, cross-selling, and referrals. This position offers the perfect blend of client relationship management and solution-based sales across both group benefits and group retirement plans. As you grow within the role, you’ll have the opportunity to earn commission by supporting the expansion of the book of business and becoming a trusted advisor to clients across a range of workplace solutions.

Responsibilities

Sales Development & Opportunity Generation

  • Proactively identify new Group Benefits and Retirement prospects, and lead them through the full sales cycle—from initial outreach to successful onboarding as a Gold Leaf client.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance current plans by introducing new services such as wellness programs, plan design optimizations, digital tools, or voluntary plan options.
  • Collaborate with internal consultants and providers to deliver compelling presentations, proposals, and strategic recommendations.
  • Support plan reviews, renewal discussions, and education sessions to reinforce value and promote ongoing client engagement.
  • Generate qualified referrals and participate in initiatives that contribute to the growth of the division.

Client Relationship Management & Retention

  • Serve as the main point of contact for a portfolio of group benefits and group retirement clients, providing responsive, knowledgeable, and high-quality service.
  • Build strong, long-term relationships with plan sponsors by understanding their organizational goals and aligning solutions to meet their needs.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients to ensure satisfaction, anticipate challenges, and foster loyalty.

Onboarding & Implementation

  • Oversee the onboarding process for new group benefits and group retirement clients, ensuring a smooth transition, accurate plan setup, and coordinated communication.
  • Manage enrolment logistics, support payroll and HR integrations, and liaise with providers to align implementation timelines and deliverables.

Plan Support & Compliance

  • Stay informed of industry regulations and compliance requirements related to both group benefits and retirement plans (including CAP Guidelines and applicable provincial/federal legislation).
  • Assist clients in understanding their responsibilities and provide proactive support to ensure adherence to governance requirements.

Reporting & Insights

  • Prepare and deliver reporting packages that demonstrate plan performance, participation trends, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Share benchmarking data and insights to help clients make informed decisions about their plan design and employee engagement strategies.

Skills / Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Business, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in group benefits and/or group retirement services, preferably in a client-facing, sales-support, or advisory capacity.
  • Knowledge of Canadian group insurance products, retirement plans (Group RRSP, DPSP, DC), and associated legislative frameworks.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a client-first approach.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines across diverse client needs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint); experience with CRM platforms is an asset.
  • Self-starter with a collaborative, team-focused mindset and a passion for building relationships.
  • Interest in growing a career in financial services sales with commission potential.
  • LLQP (Life License) is a strong asset.
  • CEBS, GBA, and RPA certification or progress toward it is an asset.
  • Bilingual (English/French) is considered a strong advantage.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $50,000 to $80,000 base plus commission, depending on the candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications.
