Job description

We seek an experienced and process-driven Sales Manager to lead our clients' eight-person sales team selling truck-mounted cranes. The territory is North America-wide, focusing on construction and landscaping industries. This newly created role drives strategies to scale the operations to ensure our client meets their ambitious growth targets. This position reports to the VP of Sales. The position includes a base salary of $150,000 to $165,000 plus bonuses

Our client provides truck-mounted cranes for construction and landscaping companies across North America. The company was founded in 1991 with a staff of over 100, is privately owned, and currently growing by over 30% per year. Their corporate culture promotes teamwork and a positive work-life balance. Their current clients include Home Depot, Camp Forming and Basecree

OFFICE LOCATION & SALES TERRITORY:

• Head Office - Etobicoke Ontario
• Working from the office
• The sales territory is North America
• Full-time - Monday to Friday

EXPERIENCE, BACKGROUND & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Sales Leadership (5+ Years)
    • Experience managing and scaling a sales team.
    • Proven ability to implement a structured sales process.
    • Experience in hiring, training, and coaching sales reps.
  2. Technical Sales Expertise
    • Strong understanding of heavy equipment, Commercial trucks, custom manufacturing, or upfitting.
    • Ability to communicate technical specifications and customization options.
    • Experience working with engineers, fabricators, or operations teams to deliver customized solutions.
  3. B2B Sales & Account Management
    • Experience selling high-value, consultative solutions rather than transactional products.
    • Strong negotiation skills for large capital equipment deals.
    • Experience with long sales cycles and multiple decision-makers.
  4. Industry-Specific Knowledge
    • Understanding of regulatory requirements, financing options, and industry-specific procurement processes.
    • Knowledge of equipment leasing, warranties, and service contracts.
  5. CRM & Sales Process Implementation
    • Experience implementing and managing CRM tools like Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar.
    • Ability to define sales KPIs and track performance.
  6. Market Expansion & Channel Sales
    • Experience selling into new territories, particularly the U.S. market.
  7. Customer Relationship Management
    • Experience working with fleet managers, municipal buyers, landscapers, construction companies, and utility providers.
• • Strong ability to build long-term relationships and provide consultative solutions.

TYPICAL DAY & DUTIES:

Sales Process Development & Implementation
  • Assess the current informal sales process and identify gaps.
  • Design and document a structured sales process, including prospecting, qualifying, presenting, closing, and post-sale follow-ups.
  • Define clear sales stages with corresponding activities and milestones.
  • Optimize CRM its usage for tracking deals and customer interactions.
Sales Training & Development
  • Develop a comprehensive sales training program covering product knowledge, sales methodologies, objection handling, and closing techniques.
  • Conduct ongoing technical training sessions to ensure sales reps understand product specifications, customization options, and industry applications.
  • Implement role-playing exercises and real-world case studies to enhance sales effectiveness.
  • Create training materials, such as playbooks, video tutorials, and FAQs.
  • Establish a mentorship or coaching system for continuous learning.
Performance Metrics & KPIs
  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) for sales activities and outcomes (e.g., conversion rates, average deal size, sales cycle length).
  • Implement regular performance reviews and feedback sessions.
  • Develop a dashboard or reporting system to track individual and team progress.
Sales Enablement & Tools
  • Introduce sales automation tools to improve efficiency.
  • Create and standardize sales collateral (pitch decks, brochures, proposal templates, case studies).
  • Develop objection-handling frameworks and pricing strategies.
Collaboration & Cross-Departmental Alignment
  • Work closely with product and engineering teams to align sales strategies with product capabilities.
  • Partner with marketing to generate high-quality leads and refine messaging.
  • Collaborate with operations and customer service to ensure smooth handoffs post-sale.
Market Expansion & Strategy
  • Research and define target customer segments.
  • Develop strategies for entering new markets (e.g., U.S. expansion, new industries).
• • Stay updated on industry trends and competitor strategies.
