Job summary

Cogir Senior Living is seeking Registered Practical Nurses to provide patient-centered care for residents across our senior living communities in Canada. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to implement and adjust care plans, document accurately, and mentor unregulated care providers.

Applicants must hold current RPN registration, demonstrate clinical knowledge, and possess strong communication, time management, and computer skills.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse in the applicable province.
• Demonstrated sound clinical knowledge.
• Experience working with seniors and with unregulated care providers preferred.
• Education and experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, community/complex/long term care an asset.
• Strong drive, respect and an understanding of the emotional and physical demands of the role.
• Focus on teamwork and customer service with the ability to build trusted relationships.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and critical thinking skills.
• Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
• Computer proficiency and experience with Microsoft office applications.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification required.
• Current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Provide planned, patient-oriented, goal-directed nursing care in accordance with provincial standards.
• Be an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team with continuous communication with residents, families and teams.
• Implement and evaluate care plans and make changes as required.
• Complete and ensure residents’ clinical care assessments, care plans and documentation are accurate and up to date.
• Teach, delegate and direct unregulated care providers, providing coaching and mentorship.
