Cogir Senior Living in Ottawa is seeking Registered Practical Nurses to deliver compassionate, patient-centered nursing care in retirement residences offering independent, assisted living and memory care options.

The role emphasizes implementing care plans, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, and guiding unregulated care providers. A strong focus on empathy, teamwork, and excellent communication will help enhance residents’ well-being.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse in the applicable province.
• Experience working with seniors is preferred.
• BCLS and First Aid certification is required.
• Vulnerable Sector Check (within six months) or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Provide planned, patient-oriented nursing care as per provincial standards.
• Implement and evaluate individualized care plans.
• Coach and supervise unregulated care providers with coaching and mentorship.
• Maintain clear communication with residents, families and the care team.

Consists of Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) who deliver a great customer service experience by demonstrating compassion and empathy towards our residents, family members and team. We embrace a holistic, resident centric approach to care by delivering personalized services at the highest quality.

RPNs are responsible for providing planned, patient-oriented, goal-directed nursing care in accordance with the provincial standards of care.

RPNs are an integral part of our multi-disciplinary team who build trusted relationships with our residents, families and teams with continuous ongoing and effective communication.

RPNs implement and evaluate the effectiveness of the care plans and make changes as required.

RPNs complete and ensure resident’s clinical care assessments, care plans and documentation are accurate, up to date and communicate changes as required.

RPNs teach, delegate and direct unregulated care providers, providing them with coaching & mentorship.

What YOU bring

• Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse in the applicable province
• Demonstrated sound clinical knowledge
• Experience working with seniors and with unregulated care providers preferred
• Education and experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, community/complex/long term care an asset
• Strong drive, respect and an understanding of the emotional and physical demands of the role
• Focus on teamwork and customer service with the ability to build trusted relationships
• Strong written and oral communication skills and critical thinking skills
• Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
• Computer proficiency and experience with Microsoft office applications
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification required
• Current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one
