Job summary

Cogir Senior Living in Kingston, Ontario is seeking Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to provide compassionate nursing care in a senior living setting. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team to implement care plans and document clinical progress.

The role requires current Ontario RPN registration, strong communication, and experience with seniors. Onboarding, training and growth opportunities are offered along with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Current registration as an RPN in Ontario.
• Experience with seniors and with unregulated care providers preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide planned, patient-oriented nursing care per provincial standards.
• Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team and maintain effective communication.
• Implement and evaluate care plans; update as required.
• Complete and ensure accurate clinical assessments, care plans and documentation.
• Teach, delegate and mentor junior care providers.

How YOU make a difference

• RPNs are responsible for providing planned, patient-oriented, goal-directed nursing care in accordance with the provincial standards of care.
• RPNs are an integral part of our multi-disciplinary team who build trusted relationships with our residents, families and teams with continuous ongoing and effective communication.
• RPNs implement and evaluate the effectiveness of the care plans and make changes as required.
• RPNs complete and ensure resident's clinical care assessments, care plans and documentation are accurate, up to date and communicate changes as required.
• RPNs teach, delegate and direct unregulated care providers, providing them with coaching & mentorship.

What YOU bring

• Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse in the applicable province
• Demonstrated sound clinical knowledge
• Experience working with seniors and with unregulated care providers preferred
• Education and experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, community/complex/long term care an asset
• Strong drive, respect and an understanding of the emotional and physical demands of the role
• Focus on teamwork and customer service with the ability to build trusted relationships
• Strong written and oral communication skills and critical thinking skills
• Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
• Computer proficiency and experience with Microsoft office applications
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification required
• Current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one
