Job summary

Extendicare is seeking part-time licensed nurses to provide high-quality resident care in a long-term care setting. You will follow established nursing standards, observe physicians’ orders, and monitor vital signs, reporting changes promptly.

You will assess residents, develop and review care plans, coordinate with doctors, and supervise nursing staff on the unit. Knowledge of infection control, teamwork, and compassionate care is essential.

Qualifications

• Current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario is required.
• Registration or eligibility for registration with the Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario.
• Knowledge of nursing practices and infection control.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work both independently and with others.

Responsibilities

• Ensure resident care is provided with nursing standards and physician orders; observe and report vital signs.
• Assess residents and develop, implement and evaluate care plans; monitor health and referrals.
• Organize and direct care functions, including restorative and palliative care, per policies.
• Plan, supervise and evaluate work of nursing staff; orient/train new personnel.
