Job summary

Qualifications

• Certificate of Competence from the Approved Institutions for the province
• Registration or eligible for registration with the Approved Institutions for the province
• Previous supervisory experience in long-term care preferred
• Experience dealing with the cognitively impaired
• Comprehensive knowledge of nursing and health care practices, including infection control
• Demonstrated commitment to working with seniors
• Ability to present information clearly in person or over the phone, and in writing; active listening with friendly demeanor
• Ability to collect and use information to think through problems and generate solutions
• Organizational, planning, time management and multi-tasking skills

Responsibilities

• Ensure care is provided with established nursing standards and physicians’ orders, and observe, report and record vital signs and conditions.
• Assist in assessing patients/residents and develop, implement, review and evaluate care plans; monitor health and changes in condition; refer to doctors as needed.
