Job summary

Peters Excavating Ltd., a Saskatchewan-based construction and excavation company, is seeking a Labourer to support equipment operators on road-building and earthworks projects. The role involves outdoor, physically demanding work and a strong commitment to safety and teamwork.

You will assist with site prep, material handling, grading, backfilling and finishing work, while following company safety policies and participating in safety meetings.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction or labour is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and clean abstract preferred.
• Able to work long hours including Saturdays during season.
• Mechanical aptitude is a plus.
• CSA-approved steel-toed boots are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist equipment operators and crew on construction sites.
• Perform manual labour including shoveling, grading and material handling.
• Assist with excavation, backfilling and site preparation.
• Help with fine grading and finishing work.
• Install and assist with drainage components as needed.
• Remove rubble and debris from sites.
• Operate hand tools and small equipment.
• Support snow removal operations when required.
• Maintain a clean and safe work site.
• Follow company safety policies and participate in safety meetings.

As a Labourer at Peters Excavating, you will support equipment operators in completing road construction and earthworks projects. Labourers play an important role in keeping projects running smoothly by assisting with site preparation, material handling, and finishing work.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist equipment operators and crew members on construction sites
• perform manual labour including shoveling, grading, and material handling
• Assist with excavation, backfilling, and site preparation
• Help with fine grading and finishing work
• Install and assist with catch basins and drainage components
• Remove rubble and debris from construction sites
• Operate hand tools and small equipment such as compactors, concrete saws, and jackhammers
• Assist with snow removal operations when required
• Maintain a clean and organized work site
• Follow company safety policies and participate in safety meetings and hazard assessments

Qualifications

• Previous construction or labour experience considered an asset
• Valid drivers license and clean drivers abstract preferred
• Ability to work extended hours and Saturdays during construction season
• Equipment operating experience or training considered an asset
• Mechanical aptitude considered an asset
• CSA-approved steel-toed boots required
• Ability to perform physically demanding work in outdoor conditions
