Job summary

A leading business intelligence company is seeking a Retail Business Analyst in Toronto. This permanent position involves architecting and developing BI applications, working closely with clients to enhance product use, provide training, and support software deployment. The ideal candidate has experience in retail software environments and excellent communication skills. A Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or Finance is required, along with analytical skills and a strong understanding of retail pricing models.

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of work experience in software deployment in a retail environment.
  • Partial or complete accreditation to CFA, PRM, or FRM.
  • Strong ability to conceptualize client needs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead client interactions and determine product direction.
  • Perform Quality Assurance testing and user documentation.
  • Assist clients with product demos and training.

This is a permanent position. You will be architecting, designing and developing, delivering and deploying BI applications for our client's customers. You will work with their sales and presales team to grow existing business and win new business as the key technical resource.

You Will….
  • Take leadership role in working with clients and consulting team to help determine product direction for functionality enhancements.
  • Provide assistance to clients on a day‑to‑day basis on how to use the product.
  • Perform periodic demos of the product to potential clients.
  • On a consulting basis, work on site with clients to help them better utilize the product.
  • Perform intermediate level training sessions with clients.
  • Provide assistance to clients to understand the product from a modeling perspective.
  • Create business specifications for developers.
  • Work with developers on an ongoing basis to enhance the product.
  • Perform Quality Assurance testing on the product.
  • Write and edit user documentation on the product.
  • May work as part of a development team on long‑term projects to deliver production applications.
  • Provide input into consulting services proposals.
  • Encourage and foster individual professional growth, as well as teamwork among project staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
You Have…..
  • Advanced knowledge of merchandising business environment; (Mark down, promo pricing and regular price management.)
  • Working experience with the software development and the software development cycle.
  • Strong understanding of retail pricing models.
  • Advanced systems analysis skills.
  • Strong ability to work within a team oriented environment.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Strong ability to conceptualize client needs and translate into specific implementation strategies.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills.
  • Demonstrated basic team leading skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Bachelor's or graduate level degree in Mathematics, Finance or other related degree.
  • Partial or complete accreditation to professional designation such as CFA, PRM, or FRM.
  • 2‑3 years of work experience in software deployment in a retail environment.
Nice to Have….
  • Experience with RDBMS, data warehousing, analytics or Business Intelligence (BI) including any experience with any data warehousing or BI tools (e.g., Cognos, Informatica, Hyperion, SAS, Business Objects, Information Builders (IBI), Generation5, Angoss, Peregrine, g5, SPSS, Teradata, MicroStrategy, Netezza, ODESIAetc).
