Job summary

BC Hydro invites applications for the permanent full-time role of Resource Management and Analytics Advisor based in Edmonds C03. The position involves coordinating resource discussions, preparing clear visual summaries, and delivering plain-language insights for decision-makers.

You will leverage Power BI/Tableau, advanced Excel, and AI-enabled tools to enhance dashboards, data quality, and portfolio reporting while engaging stakeholders across Project Delivery and Engineering.

Qualifications

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant field such as business, engineering, economics, mathematics, data analytics, computer science, or related discipline.
  • Experience in resource planning, workforce planning, project controls, portfolio reporting, and data analytics.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement; translate data into plain-language insights.
  • Hands-on with data analytics and visualization tools (Power BI/Tableau) including dashboards.
  • Advanced Excel skills: data cleaning, formulas, PivotTables, structured tables.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate, coordinate, and present resource discussions with functional managers.
  • Prepare visual summaries, briefing materials, and plain-language insights on resource trends and risks.
  • Support resource demand-capacity analysis using project data and plans.
  • Identify data quality issues and improve reporting accuracy with project teams.
  • Develop and improve resource management dashboards and reports at portfolio level.
  • Apply AI-enabled tools to improve analysis, reporting, and workflow efficiency.
  • Run portfolio-level resource reports and follow up with managers as required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of models, reporting standards, and processes.

  • The candidate will work independently to facilitate, coordinate, and present resource discussions with functional managers in Project Delivery and Engineering.
  • The candidate will prepare clear visual summaries, briefing materials, and plain-language insights explaining resource trends, constraints, risks, and forecast changes.
  • The candidate will support recurring and ad hoc resource demand-capacity analysis using inputs from active projects, planned projects, capital plans, schedules, and functional resource assumptions.
  • The candidate will identify data quality issues, investigate root causes, and work with project teams and functional managers to improve data and reporting accuracy.
  • The candidate will develop, maintain, and improve resource management dashboards and reports supporting portfolio-level resource demand and capacity planning.
  • The candidate will apply AI-enabled tools responsibly to improve analysis, reporting, documentation, meeting summaries, workflow efficiency, and quality checks.
  • The candidate will run portfolio-level resource reports to assess appropriate use of resource-specific work centres and follow up with functional managers as required.
  • The candidate will contribute to continuous improvement of resource management models, reporting standards, assumptions, and business processes.
Job Requirements
  • The candidate must possess a post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant field such as business, engineering, economics, mathematics, data analytics, computer science, human resources, project management, or a related discipline.
  • The candidate must have relevant experience in resource planning, workforce planning, project controls, portfolio reporting, business analytics, data analysis, or a related field.
  • The candidate must demonstrate strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to translate complex data into plain-language insights, risks, trends, and recommended actions for business users.
  • The candidate must have strong hands-on experience with data analytics and visualization tools such as Power BI and/or Tableau, including dashboard development, data modelling, Power Query, report maintenance, and translating business questions into clear visual insights.
  • The candidate must possess advanced Excel skills, including data cleaning, formulas, pivot tables, structured tables, and analysis of large datasets.
  • The candidate must have experience using AI-enabled tools in a professional setting to improve productivity, analysis, documentation, reporting, workflow efficiency, or quality review, with sound judgment around privacy, accuracy, and confidentiality.
  • The candidate must demonstrate strong analytical and data quality skills, including the ability to identify inconsistencies, validate assumptions, investigate issues, and explain limitations clearly.
Work conditions
  • The candidate will be required to work in a hybrid arrangement under the Flexible Work model and be based out of Edmonds at least two days per week.
