Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking Residential Drivers to operate heavy collection equipment, perform safety inspections, and maintain curbside service across local routes.

You will work with helpers and supervisors, follow safety protocols, complete logs, and ensure timely, clean waste collection in a fast-paced environment. This role is based in the Aurora region, with opportunities for growth within GFL’s national network.

Qualifications

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (DZ or AZ) with a clean Driver’s Abstract and CVOR.
• Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience (or completion of an accredited truck driving school program).
• Demonstrated ability to safely operate heavy commercial collection vehicles and hydraulic packer systems.
• Ability to satisfy all safety-sensitive operational standards.
• Strong attendance record and flexibility for early morning start times and overtime when needed.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a Manual Side Loader truck along residential routes.
• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections daily and complete required logs and paperwork.
• Collect residential waste and recycling materials per route schedules and safety protocols.
• Operate hydraulic and compaction systems with proper techniques to prevent equipment damage.
• Promptly report mechanical write-ups, route hazards, or safety incidents to management.
• Maintain high route productivity, customer service standards, and vehicle cleanliness.
• Adhere to traffic laws, municipal bylaws, safety policies, and PPE standards.
• Work closely with Helpers and Terminal Supervisors to support daily operations.

Requirements

• System Operations: Skillfully operate hydraulic and compaction systems using proper techniques to prevent equipment damage.
• Reporting & Maintenance: Promptly report any mechanical write-ups, route hazards, or safety incidents to management.
• Service Quality: Maintain high route productivity, customer service standards, and vehicle cleanliness.
• Regulatory Compliance: Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, municipal bylaws, company safety policies, and required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) standards.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with Helpers and Terminal Supervisors to support smooth, efficient daily operations.
• Additional Duties: Perform other operational duties as assigned by leadership.
