Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is hiring a Front End Driver in Ontario. You will operate front-end collection trucks on residential routes, perform daily safety inspections, and ensure curbside collection complies with schedules and safety protocols.

The role requires a valid DZ or AZ license with a clean record, plus at least one year of commercial driving experience or completion of a recognized truck driving program. Flexibility for early starts and overtime is required.

Qualifications

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (DZ or AZ) with clean CVOR.
• Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience (or completion of accredited program).
• Ability to safely operate heavy commercial collection vehicles and hydraulic packers.
• Commitment to safety standards for safety-sensitive roles.
• Strong reliability and attendance to support early start times and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Safe Fleet Operation: Safely operate a Front End truck along assigned routes.
• Safety Inspections: Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and logs.
• Curbside Collection: Collect residential waste and recycling per schedules.
• System Operations: Operate hydraulic/compaction systems correctly.
• Reporting & Maintenance: Report mechanical issues and hazards to management.
• Service Quality: Maintain route productivity and vehicle cleanliness.
• Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to traffic laws and PPE standards.
• Team Collaboration: Work with Helpers and Supervisors for smooth operations.
• Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

• Licensing: Valid Commercial Driver’s License (DZ or AZ) with a clean Driver’s Abstract and CVOR.
• Driving Experience: Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience (or completion of an accredited truck driving school program).
• Equipment Operation : Demonstrated ability to safely operate heavy commercial collection vehicles and hydraulic packer systems.
• Safety Commitment : Ability to successfully satisfy all company standards for safety-sensitive operational roles.
• Reliability : Strong attendance record and flexibility to support early morning start schedules and operational overtime when needed.

Responsibilities:

• Safe Fleet Operation : Safely operate a Front End truck along assigned commercial routes.
• Safety Inspections : Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections daily and complete required trip logs and paperwork.
• Curbside Collection : Collect residential waste and recycling materials in strict accordance with route schedules and corporate safety protocols.
• System Operations : Skillfully operate hydraulic and compaction systems using proper techniques to prevent equipment damage.
• Reporting & Maintenance : Promptly report any mechanical write-ups, route hazards, or safety incidents to management.
• Service Quality : Maintain high route productivity, customer service standards, and vehicle cleanliness.
• Regulatory Compliance : Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, municipal bylaws, company safety policies, and required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) standards.
• Team Collaboration : Work closely with Helpers and Terminal Supervisors to support smooth, efficient daily operations.
• Additional Duties: Perform other operational duties as assigned by leadership.
