Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. in Calgary, AB is seeking a Class 3 Residential Driver to join our Residential Collection team. You will operate heavy collection equipment, perform routine safety inspections, and ensure efficient, reliable curbside service for our customers.

This role requires clean CDL (3Q+), at least 1 year of commercial driving experience, and commitment to safety. You will work with helpers and supervisors to meet daily route goals while maintaining vehicle cleanliness and safety

Qualifications

• Valid CDL (3Q or above) with clean abstract and CVOR.
• Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience.
• Ability to safely operate heavy collection vehicles and hydraulic packer systems.
• Willingness to start early and work overtime when needed.
• Commitment to safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate an Automated Side-Load (ASL) collection truck on residential routes.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections daily and maintain logs.
• Collect residential waste and recycling per routes and safety protocols.
• Operate hydraulic and compaction systems correctly to avoid damage.
• Report any mechanical issues to management.
• Maintain route productivity, vehicle cleanliness, and customer service.

Requirements

• Licensing: Valid Commercial Driver’s License (3Q or above) with a clean Driver’s Abstract and CVOR.
• Driving Experience: Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience (or completion of an accredited truck driving school program).
• Equipment Operation: Demonstrated ability to safely operate heavy commercial collection vehicles and hydraulic packer systems.
• Safety Commitment: Ability to successfully satisfy all company standards for safety-sensitive operational roles.
• Reliability: Strong attendance record and flexibility to support early morning start schedules and operational overtime when needed.

Responsibilities

• Safe Fleet Operation: Safely operate an Automated Side-Load (ASL) collection truck along assigned residential routes.
• Safety Inspections: Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections daily and complete required trip logs and paperwork.
• Curbside Collection: Collect residential waste and recycling materials in strict accordance with route schedules and corporate safety protocols.
• System Operations: Skillfully operate hydraulic and compaction systems using proper techniques to prevent equipment damage.
• Reporting & Maintenance: Promptly report any mechanical write-ups, route hazards, or safety incidents to management.
• Service Quality: Maintain high route productivity, customer service standards, and vehicle cleanliness.
• Regulatory Compliance: Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, municipal bylaws, company safety policies, and required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) standards.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with Helpers and Terminal Supervisors to support smooth, efficient daily operations.
• Additional Duties: Perform other operational duties as assigned by leadership.
