The Developmental Disabilities Association (DDA) in BC invites applications for a part-time Residential Care Worker in the Vancouver area. Based in Richmond, BC, the role supports residents’ physical, emotional, social, recreational, and medical needs, helping them live safely and with dignity in community settings.

The start date is October 01, 2026, with a 31-hour workweek and an hourly wage of $28.46 to $31.57 under the collective agreement.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in social or human services, or education.
• 1–2 years experience with individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Competency in English written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents to live successfully in residential settings.
• Ensure residents' physical, emotional, social, recreational, and medical needs are met.
• Support activities of daily living and teamwork with staff.

Schedule/Hours: Mon/Tues/Wed 08:30-14:30, Thurs/Fri 07:30-14:00 // 31 hours per week
Hourly Wage: $28.46 - $31.57 as per collective agreement

The Role:

Residential Care Worker (RCW) assists residents to live successfully in residential settings within the community. The position ensures the residents’ physical, emotional, social, recreational, economic, educational, and/or medical needs are met. The RCW assists residents by enhancing their quality of life through activities of daily living. The RCW works both independently and as part of a team, and demonstrates the ability to take initiative and effectively problem solve using sound judgment.

Requirements/Education/Experience:

• Degree or Diploma in area directly related to supporting people with developmental disabilities such as Social Services, Human Services, or Education
• 1-2 years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, or related equivalent experience
• Experience with, or training in, areas of adaptive communication, and community care is an asset
• Experience in supporting mental health and positive Behavioral Reinforcement preferred.
• Criminal Record Clearance
• Medical Clearance (must be able to perform lifts and transfers of 40lbs)
• TB Test Clearanc
• Satisfactory Driver’s Abstract
• Class 5 Driver’s License
• Valid First Aid/CPR upon start date
• Demonstrated competency in English written and verbal communication
• Eligible to work in Canada
