Job summary

The Developmental Disabilities Association in Vancouver and Richmond is seeking casual Residential Care Workers to join our team ASAP. These on-call roles support residents’ physical, emotional, social, and recreational needs in group homes and require a caring, patient approach.

Qualifications include a degree or diploma in social/human services, 1–2 years of relevant experience, First Aid/CPR, a valid BC driver's license, and the ability to work in Canada. Union membership applies.

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in related social/human services fields.
  • 1-2 years experience with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Experience/training in adaptive communication, positive behaviour support, and community care.
  • Valid First Aid/CPR at start date.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
  • Willingness to obtain Class 4 Unrestricted Driver's License.
  • Satisfactory Driver's Abstract.
  • Criminal Record Clearance
  • TB Test Clearance
  • Medical clearance
  • English written and oral communication
  • Eligible to work in Canada

Responsibilities

  • Support residents’ physical, emotional, social, and recreational needs.
  • Assist with daily living activities and community integration.
  • Promote residents’ rights and self-determination.

$26.83 - $29.76 + 10.6% in lieu of benefits as per the collective agreement(2024 rates, implementation of new collective agreement is in process, and new wage rates $28.46 to $31.57 will be implemented once funding is received)

Requirements/Education/Experience
  • Degree or Diploma in an area directly related to supporting people with developmental disabilities, such as Social Services, Human Services, or Education
  • 1-2 years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, or related equivalent experience
  • Experience with, or training in, areas of adaptive communication, positive behaviour support, and community care is an asset
  • Valid First Aid/CPR upon start date
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License
  • Willingness to obtain a Class 4 Unrestricted Driver's License
