Job summary

Developmental Disabilities Association in Metro Vancouver is seeking a Residential Care Worker for a permanent part-time role in a group home in Richmond. The position offers a supportive work environment and a comprehensive benefits package, with a start date of September 30, 2026, and hourly wages of 28.46 to 31.57 CAD as per the collective agreement.

The RCW will assist residents across physical, emotional, social and recreational needs, helping them reach their full potential with dignity

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Social Services, Human Services, or Education.
• 1–2 years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, or related equivalent experience.
• Class 5 Driver's License and satisfactory driver's abstract.
• Criminal Record Clearance and TB Test Clearance.
• Medical Clearance to perform lifts up to 40 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents to live successfully in residential settings within the community.
• Ensure residents' physical, emotional, social, recreational, educational and medical needs are met.
• Support residents by enhancing quality of life through activities of daily living.
• Work independently and in a team, using sound judgment and initiative.

The Role:

Residential Care Worker (RCW) assists residents to live successfully in residential settings within the community. The position ensures the residents’ physical, emotional, social, recreational, economic, educational, and/or medical needs are met. The RCW assists residents by enhancing their quality of life through activities of daily living. The RCW works both independently and as part of a team, and demonstrates the ability to take initiative and effectively problem solve using sound judgment.

Requirements/Education/Experience:

• Degree or Diploma in area directly related to supporting people with developmental disabilities such as Social Services, Human Services, or Education
• 1-2 years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, or related equivalent experience
• Experience with, or training in, areas of adaptive communication, and community care is an asset
• Experience in supporting mental health and positive Behavioral Reinforcement preferred
• Class 5 Driver's License
• Satisfactory driver's abstract
• Criminal Record Clearance
• Must have training in positive behavior support
• Medical Clearance (must be able to perform lifts and transfers of 40 lbs)
• TB Test Clearance
• Competency in English written and verbal communication
• Eligible to work in Canada
