Job summary

Extendicare is seeking a Director of Care to lead a high-performing care team in a long-term care home. You will ensure resident-centered care aligns with Extendicare standards, accreditation, and provincial regulations, while building trust with residents and families.

You will champion safety, quality, and compliance, mentor staff, manage education, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional outcomes and a positive workplace culture.

Qualifications

• RN with current registration in Ontario.
• 5+ years nursing experience with 2+ in leadership in LTCH or healthcare.
• Strong knowledge of long-term care regulations and best practices.
• Proven ability to lead quality improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the resident care team with coaching and day-to-day guidance.
• Foster a collaborative, accountable, high-performing work environment.
• Ensure required education and competency training for staff.
• Oversee resident assessment, care planning, and implementation.
• Develop operational plans for clinical services and staffing.
• Monitor regulatory compliance and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Drive quality improvement to enhance safety and satisfaction.
• Build partnerships with vendors and community health partners.
