Job summary

Southbridge Care Homes in Ontario seeks an Activity Aide to enrich residents' lives at Chelsey Park Retirement Home. You will assist with planning, coordinating and evaluating group and individual activities to brighten each day.

The role requires strong communication, organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively with nursing staff and other departments. Casual, on-site position reporting to the Programs Manager.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology or related field; enrolled students must complete within 3 years.
• Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and excellent documentation.
• Experience in one-to-one or group program planning, implementation and evaluation for varying abilities.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement and evaluate activation programs for individuals and groups.
• Set up and transport residents to activities; monitor behavior and report changes to supervisors.
• Maintain resident and program records; communicate participation to registered staff.
• Collaborate with other departments to meet resident needs.
