Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in a related field required. Graduate degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to Women’s College Hospital to help take dermatological images of patient conditions.
  • Assist with submission of manuscripts to scientific journals, including preparing tables/figures and coordinating documents.
  • Recruit participants in person and obtain informed consent.
  • image, store and curate dermatological images from patient data.
  • Create and disseminate knowledge translation materials such as presentations and posters.
  • Support research design/ethics understanding and liaise with study team.
  • Conduct recruitment interviews via telephone, online or in person and document interactions.
  • Prepare detailed notes of interactions with participants and manage data entry/quality control.
  • Maintain research files and assist at multiple sites as needed.
  • Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas and meeting minutes.
  • Assist in proposal/progress report preparations and data analysis as needed.

Job description

This is a Temporary Part-Time opportunity that will be 3 days onsite.

Description of Research Project or Team

This job is funded out of the Women’s College Hospital Breakthrough Challenge. We are working on a projectthat evaluates the use of infrared thermal imaging (IRT) to objectively visualize inflammation and itch in common dermatologic conditions, addressing limitations of visual assessment and subjective reporting—especially in patients with skin of colour. In a 12-month study of 220 adults, thermal imaging will be compared with patient-reported itch and standard clinical scoring systems to assess diagnostic alignment, patient understanding, engagement, and satisfaction. By making inflammation visible regardless of skin tone, the study aims to improve equity, support shared decision-making, and demonstrate a scalable, patient-centered approach to dermatologic care.

Summary of Duties, but not limited to:

  • Travelling to Women’s College Hospital to help take dermatological images of patient conditions.
  • Assist with submission of manuscripts to scientific journals – may involve creating tables, figures, proof reading, preparation of cover letter, coordinating documents to sign, electronic submission
  • Responsible for recruiting participants in person to collect study participant data including obtaining informed consent.
  • Responsible for imaging, storing and curating images of dermatological conditions from patient data.
  • Assist with creation and dissemination of knowledge translation material including presentations, posters and manuscripts.
  • Some understanding of research design and research ethics
  • Responsible for conducting telephone, online, or in-person recruitment interviews to collect study participant data including obtaining informed consent
  • Prepares detailed notes of all interactions with participants
  • Completes data entry and quality control ensuring the accuracy and integrity of data collection; may investigate missing or invalid data and prepare data sets
  • Help maintain research files to store, access, and retrieve study data as specified at one or more sites
  • Communicates with Research Coordinator and/or Principal Investigator to provide updates
  • Schedules and attends research meetings, including preparing agendas and meeting minutes
  • May prepare and mail out/email follow-up questionnaires to research participants or collaborators
  • Prioritizes and monitors various study deadlines for their own work
  • Provides other administrative support as required, including filing, photocopying, acquiring signatures and CV maintenance
  • May assist team members with preparing materials for proposals, progress reports, presentations, and publications
  • May assist in the analysis of qualitative and quantitative data and the interpretation of results
