Job summary

Affirm is a remote-first company redefining credit with a focus on honesty and flexibility for customers in Canada. The Frontend Engineer role centers on setting a year-long technical strategy for our web surface, collaborating with product, design, and analytics to drive sustainable solutions across iOS, Android, and Web platforms.

You will lead architecture, migrate and modernize code, and build reusable tooling and codemods to scale our frontend.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience developing and architecting web applications using declarative UI frameworks like React or Vue.
• Proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience across multiple teams and driving horizontal initiatives with leadership.
• Delivered major features with a clear technical and execution plan.
• Thrives in ambiguity and understands architecture of large systems.
• Growth trajectory showing feedback from engineering and cross-functional peers.
• Strong verbal and written communication for global collaboration.
• Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Responsibilities

• Set technical strategy for our frontend surface on a year-long time scale.
• Collaborate across product mgmt, design & analytics to ensure sustainability and manage risks.
• Act as a force-multiplier by defining technical solutions and processes.
• Own operations and availability with monitoring, runbooks, testing, and on-call readiness.
• Set code review and design standards and evangelize them beyond the team.
• Mentor and develop team members with feedback and guidance.
