Job summary

Rideau Transit Maintenance is seeking an accounting professional to support month-end close, effort in AP/AR processes, and general accounting in a remote work model from Ottawa, ON. You will prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, and assist with audits and reporting.

The role requires at least 1 year of accounting experience, attention to detail, and strong Excel / QuickBooks skills. The position offers full-time permanent employment with a comprehensive benefits package and relocation

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in accounting, or a related field.
• Minimum of 1 year work experience in Accounts Payables and Accounts Receivables processes, and General Accounting.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures.
• Strong analytical skills with ability to implement solutions and vendor management experience.
• Ability to complete multiple tasks and projects within deadlines.
• Experience with QuickBooks/QuickBooks Online is an asset.
• Experience using Excel for financial analysis, using advanced formulas and pivot tables.

Responsibilities

• Support month-end and year-end close activities including journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries.
• Prepare and reconcile balance sheet accounts (bank accounts, credit cards, prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities).
• Assist in monthly financial reporting packages for management.
• Maintain accurate accounting records per internal controls and policies.
• Support audits and respond to auditor inquiries.
• Review and reconcile corporate credit card and employee expense transactions.
• Process invoices and code for proper classification; support vendor reconciliations.
• Assist with payments and month-end close tasks; monitor AR and collect discrepancies.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve billing issues and revenue recognition.
