Blacksmith Agency is seeking a General Manager to run the company day to day in a remote setting serving US clients. The role centers on leading sales, recruiting, delivery and marketing, with accountability for the profit number and strategic direction.

Ideal candidates have a strong sales track record, agency experience, and a history of scaling teams from mid-size to larger organizations, while maintaining clear communication with the founder.

Qualifications

• A sales background: you carried a quota, then led salespeople against a number as a VP of Sales, CRO or sales-led general manager.
• Agency experience first: a digital, marketing or creative agency is ideal; SaaS or professional services also work.
• You know how a services company sells, prices and delivers.
• More than one function reports to you, with hiring, numbers and leadership decisions under you.

Responsibilities

• Lead four department leads: manage their numbers, development, reviews and escalations.
• Set the week, quarterly priorities, and resolve conflicts when targets collide.
• Own profit: focus on margins of delivery and cost of hires, not just revenue.
• Oversee commercial conversations: client contracts, redlines, vendor terms, and what is agreed.
• Build strong operators into leaders and drive day-to-day execution with the founder's expectations.
