• Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS.
• Manage the accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.
• Lead and mentor the finance and accounting team, fostering a culture of accuracy and efficiency.
• Collaborate with external auditors and manage the annual audit process.
• Support strategic decision-making by providing financial analysis and insights.

About the Role

Our client, a rapidly expanding FinTech company, is seeking a seasoned and strategic Financial Controller to lead their financial operations. This is a fully remote position, offering an exceptional opportunity to manage financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting functions from anywhere within South Africa. You will be instrumental in scaling the finance department, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing critical financial insights to drive business growth. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Develop and implement robust internal controls and accounting policies and procedures.
• Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., IFRS).

Requirements

• Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) or equivalent international qualification.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management, with at least 3 years in a Controller or similar senior role.
• Proven experience in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment, preferably FinTech or digital financial services.
• In-depth knowledge of IFRS and South African tax legislation.
• Expertise with accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, SAP) and advanced proficiency in Excel.
• Strong understanding of internal controls and financial risk management.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage effectively in a remote work setting, with strong organizational and time management skills.
• Experience with financial modeling and business analytics.
