Job summary

Akai, based in Canada, seeks a Forward Deployed Engineer to lead AI-powered solution design, prototyping, and end-to-end deployments across mid-market and enterprise customers. You will translate business needs into practical, scalable AI agents and automated workflows.

You will own the lifecycle from discovery through deployment, adoption, and expansion, collaborating with engineering, product, and GTM teams to maximize business value and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of relevant professional experience preferred; client-facing role with senior stakeholders.
• Experience in management consulting, entrepreneurship, product strategy, solutions engineering, or similar fast-moving org.
• Hands-on AI experience building AI-powered prototypes, agents, or automations.
• Proficiency with SQL, lightweight scripting, APIs, no-code tools, and JSON.
• Strong communication and presentation skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Commercial awareness: link customer outcomes to business value and growth.
• Adaptability in dynamic environments and cross-functional collaboration.
• Engineering/applied science background or domain knowledge in finance, treasury, payments, KYB/AML, logistics, HR, or payroll are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end implementations from discovery to deployment, adoption, and expansion.
• Collaborate with senior technical colleagues on enterprise deployments and project workstreams.
• Analyze customer operations to identify bottlenecks and automation opportunities.
• Build and deploy AI agents using AI platforms and LLMs for high-impact challenges.
• Iterate prototypes with real user feedback and refine agents for performance.
• Contribute to product development with minor enhancements and platform improvements.
• Drive adoption and measure impact to deliver lasting value for customers.
• Identify opportunities to scale solutions across accounts with GTM teams.
• Share feedback to improve internal tools and scalable delivery practices.
