Job summary

Affirm is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the Infra Foundations team, owning its roadmap, reliability, and growth of engineers. You will oversee AWS provisioning, networking, IAM access, and automation that enables other infra teams to manage complex stacks safely using IaC rails.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software or infrastructure engineering experience with 2+ years in engineering management.
• Experience leading engineering teams in infrastructure, platform engineering, or adjacent domains.
• Strong programming background in Python, Go, or Kotlin.
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/Spacelift) and GitOps workflows.
• Experience building and operating infrastructure automation used by others.
• Track record of operating services with a high reliability bar (monitoring, on-call, incident response).
• Familiarity with least-privilege IAM and security collaboration.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the vision and multi-quarter roadmap for the Infra Foundations team.
• Lead and mentor a team of infrastructure engineers, handling hiring and career growth.
• Align Infra Foundations priorities with broader infrastructure, platform, and security goals.
• Own reliability and safety of the foundational layer: AWS provisioning, networking, and IAM access.
• Drive automation frameworks to enable other infra teams to provision and tear down stacks via IaC rails.
• Steward operational programs including AWS quota management and AMI patch management.
• Establish and enforce operational SLAs for IAM, quota alerts, and incident response.
• Partner with Security to enforce least-privilege IAM across teams.
• Promote self-service tooling, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
