Job summary

Affirm, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Manager for the Infra Foundations team to lead the foundational layer across AWS provisioning, IAM, core networking, and IaC workflows.

This remote Canada role focuses on driving multi-quarter roadmaps, mentoring engineers, and maintaining reliability while scaling infrastructure globally. You will guide architecture and execution across accounts, VPC networking, and IAM, while promoting GitOps and automation through Terraform/Spacelift.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in software or infrastructure engineering with 2+ years in management.
• Experience leading infrastructure or platform teams.
• Strong cloud-native/infrastructure systems background (AWS preferred).
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Spacelift) and GitOps.
• Experience building and operating infrastructure automation.
• Proven reliability-focused operations (monitoring, incident response).
• Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the multi-quarter roadmap for Infra Foundations.
• Lead and mentor a team of infra engineers, owning hiring and growth.
• Align Infra Foundations priorities with broader goals.
• Own the reliability and safety of the foundational layer (AWS provisioning, IAM).
• Drive automation frameworks for safe provisioning and teardown.
• Manage AWS quota, AMI patching, and Ansible configuration management.
• Establish SLAs for IAM requests and incident response.
• Partner with Security on least-privilege access governance.
• Promote self-service tooling and knowledge sharing.
