Job summary

Affirm is seeking a software engineer to build backend services powering post-transaction workflows. You will design, develop, and deploy reliable systems in Python or Kotlin, focusing on scalable, distributed architectures.

You’ll work with AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes, own your work from ideation through production, participate in code reviews, and collaborate with product, design, analytics, and operations teams in a remote-first environment.

Qualifications

• 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems.
• Proficient in Python or Kotlin.
• Familiar with distributed systems and technologies like AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes.
• Able to own features from design to production and contribute to code reviews.

Responsibilities

• Break down larger projects into tasks, deliver in phases, and ensure timely delivery.
• Collaborate with product management, design & analytics during ideation and decision-making.
• Support operations and on-call efforts by creating/monitoring metrics and responding to incidents.
• Contribute to team growth through participation in interview processes.
