Job summary

WeeCare is seeking a Pediatric Registered Practical Nurse to provide in-home care for a child in Barrie, ON. You will work within a care plan to deliver reassurance, comfort, and consistency for the child and family in a safe home setting.

Responsibilities include G/J tube care, medication administration per CNO standards, and comprehensive documentation. A licensed CNO registration, BLS, and a recent Vulnerable Sector Check are required. Flexible scheduling and a supportive team are offered.

Qualifications

• Licensed and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
• Experience working with pediatric clients.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the past 6 months.
• Professional Liability Insurance (PLI).

Responsibilities

• Provide G/GJ tube care and management.
• Administer and document medications per prescription and CNO standards.
• Monitor and safeguard medications and narcotics.
• Maintain child records and documentation per CNO standards.
• Assist with personal care, hygiene and activities of daily living.
• Observe and report changes in the child's condition to family and WeeCare.
• Assist with ambulation, transfers, and use of adaptive aids.
• Support child's needs and maximize abilities.
• Provide cognitive, social, emotional and psychological support to child and family.
• Respond to concerns and ensure follow-up.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment for equipment and belongings.
• Notify supervisor of safety concerns, incidents or accidents.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Position

Pediatric Registered Practical Nurse in Barrie, ON.

Schedule

• Sunday-Saturday, 19:00-08:00

• Full-time and part-time positions available. Nurses will be assigned a consistent weekly schedule of 1-3 shifts per week, depending on their availability and the staffing schedule.

Please note: To be considered for this position, applicants must be able to commit to a consistent weekly schedule.

General Duties

• Provide G/GJ tube care and management
• Administer and document medications as prescribed, in accordance with CNO medication administration standards
• Monitor and ensure the safekeeping of medications and narcotics
• Maintain the child's records and required documentation in accordance with CNO standards
• Assist the child with personal care, hygiene, and activities of daily living
• Observe and report changes in the child's condition to the parent/guardian and WeeCare
• Assist with ambulation, mobilization, transfers, and use of adaptive aids
• Demonstrate understanding of the child's needs and support the child in maximizing their abilities
• Provide cognitive, social, emotional, and psychological support to the child and family
• Respond to child and family concerns and ensure appropriate follow-up
• Assist in maintaining a safe and cleanly environment, including the child's equipment and belongings
• Notify the supervisor of any concerns related to the child's safety, incidents, or accidents
• Complete other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Licensed and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
• Experience working with pediatric clients
