Job summary

WeeCare Pediatric Home Health Care in Barrie, ON is seeking a Part-time Pediatric Registered Practical Nurse for evening and overnight shifts (19:00–08:00). Provide compassionate in-home care to pediatric clients, follow care plans, and support families in creating a safe, nurturing environment.

You will administer medications, monitor patient conditions, assist with activities of daily living, and maintain accurate documentation in line with CNO standards.

Qualifications

• Licensed and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
• Experience working with pediatric clients.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) completed within the past 6 months.
• Professional Liability Insurance (PLI).

Responsibilities

• Provide G/GJ tube care and management.
• Administer and document medications as prescribed, per CNO standards.
• Monitor and ensure safekeeping of medications and narcotics.
• Maintain the child’s records and required documentation per CNO standards.
• Assist the child with personal care and activities of daily living.
• Observe and report changes in the child’s condition to family and WeeCare.
• Assist with ambulation, transfers, and use of adaptive aids.
• Demonstrate understanding of the child’s needs and support their abilities.
• Provide cognitive, social, emotional, and psychological support to child and family.
• Respond to concerns and ensure appropriate follow-up.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment, including equipment and belongings.
• Notify supervisor of concerns related to safety, incidents, or accidents.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Schedule

General Duties (specific duties may vary based on individual client needs)

• Provide G/GJ tube care and management
• Administer and document medications as prescribed, in accordance with CNO medication administration standards
• Monitor and ensure the safekeeping of medications and narcotics
• Maintain the child's records and required documentation in accordance with CNO standards
• Assist the child with personal care, hygiene, and activities of daily living
• Observe and report changes in the child's condition to the parent/guardian and WeeCare
• Assist with ambulation, mobilization, transfers, and use of adaptive aids
• Demonstrate understanding of the child’s needs and support the child in maximizing their abilities
• Provide cognitive, social, emotional, and psychological support to the child and family
• Respond to child and family concerns and ensure appropriate follow-up
• Assist in maintaining a safe and cleanly environment, including the child’s equipment and belongings
• Notify the supervisor of any concerns related to the child’s safety, incidents, or accidents
• Complete other duties as assigned

Requirements
