Job summary

GetHired, Inc. is seeking a Pediatric Registered Practical Nurse to deliver compassionate in-home care to pediatric clients in Barrie, ON. You will help create a safe, nurturing environment for the child and family, following care plans and coordinating with caregivers and supervisors.

The role is part-time with shifts 19:00–08:00, and scheduling is weekly-consistent. Applicants must be licensed with the CNO, have pediatric experience, and maintain BLS, VSC, and PLI as required.

Qualifications

• Licensed with CNO and in good standing.
• Experience working with pediatric clients.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the past 6 months.
• Professional Liability Insurance (PLI) is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide G/JG tube care and management (as applicable).
• Administer and document medications per prescribed plan and CNO standards.
• Monitor and safeguard medications and narcotics.
• Maintain child records per CNO standards and regulations.
• Assist with personal care, hygiene, and activities of daily living.
• Observe and report changes in condition to parent/guardian and WeeCare.
• Assist with ambulation, transfers, and adaptive equipment.
• Support child according to needs and maximize abilities.
• Provide cognitive, social, emotional, and psychological support to child and family.
• Respond to concerns and ensure follow-up.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and manage equipment.
• Notify supervisor of safety concerns or incidents.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Schedule

General Duties

(specific duties may vary based on individual client needs)

• Provide G/GJ tube care and management
• Administer and document medications as prescribed, in accordance with CNO medication administration standards
• Monitor and ensure the safekeeping of medications and narcotics
• Maintain the child's records and required documentation in accordance with CNO standards
• Assist the child with personal care, hygiene, and activities of daily living
• Observe and report changes in the child's condition to the parent/guardian and WeeCare
• Assist with ambulation, mobilization, transfers, and use of adaptive aids
• Demonstrate understanding of the child’s needs and support the child in maximizing their abilities
• Provide cognitive, social, emotional, and psychological support to the child and family
• Respond to child and family concerns and ensure appropriate follow-up
• Assist in maintaining a safe and cleanly environment, including the child’s equipment and belongings
• Notify the supervisor of any concerns related to the child’s safety, incidents, or accidents
• Complete other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Licensed and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
• Experience working with pediatric clients
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) completed within the past 6 months
• Professional Liability Insurance (PLI)
