Job summary

WeeCare Pediatric Home Health Care in Barrie, ON, is seeking a Pediatric Registered Practical Nurse to support pediatric clients in home environments during casual night shifts.

You will provide tube care, administer medications per CNO standards, monitor safety, and help with daily living activities, while reporting changes to families and the WeeCare team.

Qualifications

Licensed and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
Experience working with pediatric clients.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the past 6 months.
Professional Liability Insurance (PLI).

Responsibilities

Provide G/GJ tube care and management.
Administer and document medications as prescribed per CNO standards.
Monitor the safekeeping of medications and narcotics.
Maintain the child's records and required documentation per CNO standards.
Assist the child with personal care, hygiene and activities of daily living.
Observe and report changes in the child's condition to family and WeeCare.
Assist with ambulation, mobilization and transfers.
Support the child's needs and maximize their abilities.
Provide cognitive, social, emotional and psychological support to child and family.
Respond to concerns and ensure appropriate follow-up.
Maintain a safe and clean environment, including equipment and belongings.
Notify supervisor of safety concerns, incidents or accidents.
Complete other duties as assigned.

Schedule

Casual shifts; 19:00-08:00

General Duties

Provide G/GJ tube care and management
Administer and document medications as prescribed, in accordance with CNO medication administration standards
Monitor and ensure the safekeeping of medications and narcotics
Maintain the child's records and required documentation in accordance with CNO standards
Assist the child with personal care, hygiene, and activities of daily living
Observe and report changes in the child's condition to the parent/guardian and WeeCare
Assist with ambulation, mobilization, transfers, and use of adaptive aids
Demonstrate understanding of the child's needs and support the child in maximizing their abilities
Provide cognitive, social, emotional, and psychological support to the child and family
Respond to child and family concerns and ensure appropriate follow-up
Assist in maintaining a safe and cleanly environment, including the child's equipment and belongings
Notify the supervisor of any concerns related to the child's safety, incidents, or accidents
Complete other duties as assigned
