Job summary

Bayshore HealthCare is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse (Pediatrics) for casual, 8-hour night shifts in Barrie, ON. The RPN will provide family-centered nursing care in home, school, and community settings, collaborating with families and interdisciplinary teams to promote health and well-being for pediatric clients.

Ideal candidates will be an accredited Practical Nurse with current CNO RPN registration, BLS/CPR, and pediatric/home-care experience.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program.
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in good standing.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification.
  • Pediatric, community, home care, or family-centered care experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, assessment, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively manage community-based assignments.
  • Proof of negative TB skin test within 1 year.
  • Pediatric nursing experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, assessment, critical-thinking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to pediatric clients in community and home care settings.
  • Perform health assessments and monitor patients for changes in condition.
  • Administer medications, enteral feeds, and treatments within the RPN scope of practice.
  • Support children with chronic illnesses, complex medical needs, developmental disabilities, and post-acute care requirements.
  • Educate families and caregivers on care plans, medication administration, medical equipment, and disease management.
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, schools, and community partners to coordinate patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation. Promote infection prevention, patient safety, and quality care standards.
  • Foster a supportive environment that promotes the physical, emotional, social, and developmental well‑being of pediatric clients.

Hourly Rate of Pay: $30.00 to $35.00

Summary of Position:

The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) - Community Pediatrics provides compassionate, family-centered nursing care to infants, children, and adolescents in home, school, and community settings. Working independently and collaboratively with families, caregivers, physicians, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams, the RPN delivers high-quality care that supports the health, safety, development, and overall well-being of pediatric clients. The RPN assesses patient needs, implements care plans, administers treatments, monitors health status, and provides education and support to families while promoting positive health outcomes and enhancing quality of life.
