Job summary

Aspira Hazeldean Gardens, part of Sienna Senior Living, is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse for casual on-call coverage in Ottawa, Ontario. The position supports vacations and open shifts, with shifts 7:00-15:00, 15:00-23:00, 23:00-07:00, and weekend availability.

You will provide nursing care per policy, ensure delivery of high-quality personal care, and supervise care staff while communicating with residents and families. Must be in good standing with the Ontario College of Nurses.

Qualifications

• Ontario College of Nurses in good standing.
• Experience in geriatrics, rehabilitation or senior health is an asset.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada or hold a valid work permit.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in accordance with established policy and physician orders.
• Ensure delivery of high-quality nursing and personal care.
• Create a welcoming and supportive environment for residents through teamwork and communication.
• Oversee resident care and liaise with families and staff.
• Supervise Personal Support Workers and unregulated team members.
• Assess residents on admission, readmission, and changes in status.

• must have some weekend availably

Reporting to the Director of Care, the Registered Practical Nurse is a critical role within our communities as it impacts the lives of residents.

What you’ll be doing:

• Provide nursing care in accordance with established policy, physician’s orders, the resident plan of care, and within the scope of practice of an RPN/LPN.
• Utilizing sound nursing practice principles, ensure delivery of excellent nursing and personal care
• Creating a welcoming and supportive environment for the residents through teamwork and effective communication with staff
• Overseeing resident care, including regular communication with residents and their families, and providing guidance to staff
• Supervise the Personal Support Workers/Unregulated team members assigned to the unit
• Admission, readmission, and change in status, and provide ongoing assessment to the residents

Who you are

• A Registered Practical Nurse in good standing the Ontario College of Nurses
• An asset is having experience in Geriatrics, Rehabilitation and/or senior health industry
• You have good judgement, the ability to identify risk and can foster a positive work environment
• You must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work permit
